With all this time on my hands I decided to go through my grandfathers 1970 coin collection that was passed done to me. This one is missing the date which I thought was odd. So I'm asking for some input.

Looks like the 9 was pulverized and shoved sideways by a monster circulation hit.

Odd for sure. No apparent looks of a hit yet that is probably the only reason for that date.

Huh...weird. I would keep it just out of curiosity. It's most certainly damage but...it's so clean, barely any moved metal, besides the 19 of course.

I understand that the "severe circulation hit" answer seems counter-intuitive, but it is the only logical explanation for this oddity.

Under the right lighting condition with perfectly focused image, you will see the direction of the metal movement after the area in question took a hit and the metal was pushed. It is post strike damage.
