I think several factors play into new memberships:
1. Covid: I gotta do something from home if I had nothing else to do.
2. Price of metals went up and folks started looking at pocket change etc for fun and in some cases needing money from old coins saved up
3. Folks inheriting a few coins to whole collections that they remember those coins from their childhood but really knew nothing about them.
4. The internet has made learning so much faster and less intrusive than going to shows etc.
5. Many more options for selling vs going down to the local Pawn or LCS.

Long time lurker, new member, old collector. Joining due to the number of nefarious sellers I am seeing on ebay where I purchase a lot. The fakes are getting harder and harder to discern from real coins. Hope that by looking through all of the professional members posts here I can learn how to keep up with and pass by the fake crap.
