Hello everyone.
I have a question about how to know when to put a coin into a 2×2?
What factors does everyone use to determine or not to individually store them?
Again thanks for your advice and opinions!

When your albums are full. When you have doubles or triples of something. When you think it's a significant coin. When you don't want to put them in plastic tubes. When you have enough storage space for 2x2's.........pick one.
When I first started searching for W quarters, I put them in 2x2's. Now I have so many, I put them in plastic tubes. Much less storage space.
Side-note: If you're using 2x2's, make sure you crimp the staples tight with a pair of pliers.

i dont buy slabbed coins just to buy slabbed coins. I'm looking first to fill a hole. if the hole is filled and I find a nicer example I will replace it and then put that coin in a holder. I will also put coins in a holder that I do not have sets for such as Peace dollars

Looking to start a decent collection of every year and mint and see what errors I find.
I do not know how to judge what to store and what not to.

That's quite the project. Wow...and you're looking for errors to boot. I wish you and your eyes the best. Do you have an album that you are filling and upgrading as you go along?

I have been sorting by decade to start.
I started with the 70s filled 6 rolls one 1976 1977 1978 1980 and 2 1979s.
I have sandwich bag with 1940s and one with 1950s.
Then a jewlery pouch with the nicest ones of varies years I had found and a pile of the error coins I have come across thus far.

I put my main in collection in flips but bulk stuff tends to go in bags.

If you want to display your collection in albums, then I would use the 2x2 s for the errors. If you want to display your collection in coin pages, then I would use 2x2 s for the best example of each date you find. You may want to invest in a bunch of coin tubes for "collectible" examples of various dates (whatever your threshold is for collectible), but which are not the best one or two. I use coin tubes to store Lincolns from the 1920s and 30s that I've pulled out of circulation over the years. Presumably 14,000 or so (maybe even 14,500?) will wind up going back into circulation. That will help fund some purchases of dates you don't find. There will be many
