These are so commonly confused with the 1883/2 nickels that they listed them in the CherryPickers' Guide as an example of what not to look for. Report this Post to the Staff

Conder101 Bedrock of the Community United States 17884 Posts	Posted 09/07/2020 9:38 pm First glance at the date tells me it is too compact to be an 1883 logotype so that shoots down the chance of an overdate right there. On the 1883 the digits are wide apart and there is almost enough room to put another digit between each of them. 1882 logotype 1883 logotype note especially the gap between the 1 and 8.(and this IS one of the five different 1883/2 overdates.)
