I was at work today searching through some pennies like I always do. (you never know what you might find in your cash register!) I'm always looking for error and variety coins. My co-workers think I'm crazy to waist my time looking through a bunch of pennies, but anyways, I was going through my register at work when I came across a 1984 Lincoln Cent. The first thing I noticed was the very strong doubling of the ear. It was so noticeable that I didn't even need my loupe to see it. I was so ecstatic. I have only been collecting coins regularly for about a year now, so to find something like this is very exciting to me. So I just thought I would share my story with everyone. I would post pics but I don't have any way of taking a good close up pic of it. sorry! Edited by cconrad 11/26/2008 06:25 am

If anyone has any suggestions of how to get a good close up pic it would help a lot. My wife has a camera but the zoom isn't strong enough to get a good close up.

I thought I had a 1982 DDR, but it turned out to be Machine Doubling. But I am 100% sure this 1984 DDO is the real deal. There's no mistaking it. I was also surprised to see that it was in good condition. It has a couple of small discolored spots but it still has very good detail.

Did you try using a loop in front of your camera lens?

that's exactly what I'm going to do. I tested it with my cell phone camera and it turned out great, so when I get home this evening from work I'm going to use my wife's camera and put it on my computer.
