I was at work today searching through some pennies like I always do. (you never know what you might find in your cash register!) I'm always looking for error and variety coins. My co-workers think I'm crazy to waist my time looking through a bunch of pennies, but anyways, I was going through my register at work when I came across a 1984 Lincoln Cent. The first thing I noticed was the very strong doubling of the ear. It was so noticeable that I didn't even need my loupe to see it. I was so ecstatic. I have only been collecting coins regularly for about a year now, so to find something like this is very exciting to me. So I just thought I would share my story with everyone. I would post pics but I don't have any way of taking a good close up pic of it. sorry!

If anyone has any suggestions of how to get a good close up pic it would help a lot. My wife has a camera but the zoom isn't strong enough to get a good close up.

I thought I had a 1982 DDR, but it turned out to be Machine Doubling. But I am 100% sure this 1984 DDO is the real deal. There's no mistaking it. I was also surprised to see that it was in good condition. It has a couple of small discolored spots but it still has very good detail.

Did you try using a loop in front of your camera lens?

that's exactly what I'm going to do. I tested it with my cell phone camera and it turned out great, so when I get home this evening from work I'm going to use my wife's camera and put it on my computer.

You don't need to take a close up if it's the double ear variety we would be able to see it anyway

Don't forget to use the macro setting.
Or the supermacro if you have it.

Here are some pics of the 1984 DDO I found yesterday. I used my 16x loupe and my wife's kodak camera to take these. Sorry about the reverse pic, it's a little blurry.
