NGC - Coin of the Day: On Oct. 14, 1951, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua created the Organization of Central American States (ODECA in Spanish) to promote cooperation across borders. This coin was issued to mark the 20th anniversary of ODECA. The organization was breaking up at the time due to war, but its mission was revived under a new name (SICA) in 1991.
