Possible they came from the same source, maybe someone paid with them. As a coin dealer, I am always encouraging people to put things with no real numismatic premium back into circulation if they are not interested - my logic is that it might get someone interested, or make someones day... I mean, we get enough kiloware. These are low value coins, so maybe the same type of scenario?

I've been collecting (amateur) for 50 years and have never got buffalo or steel penny's in change. I have both already but were given to me from my grandfather around 1970 and they look much better.

My son worked at a local Taco Bell for several months and received 2 buffalos, six silver dimes and 20 wheats. He's not into coins, but dad is.

Probably a dump or a collector put them back into circulation. I will occasionally put old non-silver back in circulation in the hope it will entice someone else to collect coins.

@Nice score! Maybe pick up coin rolls from a bank and search them for oldies, if you might be interested in that sort of thing.

I would have kept on going back every 5 minutes buying fries with a $10.00 bill . Deplete them of all their change .
