Nice, large size (38 mm) silver coin (0.72 fine). These 2½ Gulden coins (Rijksdaalder) with the fourth type head of Queen Wilhelmina were struck from 1929 to 1940. In 1943 2 million pieces were sturck in the US mint of Philadelphia for use in the Netharlands East Indies as the home country was occupied by the Germans (1940 - 1945). Wat is special about the 1933 Rijksdaalder is the head of the Queen, which is of the so-called course hair type. This can be recognised by the deep lines in the hair and by the fact that the text around the head is close to the edge of the coin. Two scarce varieties exist of Rijksdaalders of 1932 and 1938 which were struck inadvertanty using the course hair die.
