Think I found my first 1974-D FS-101. It isn't an awesome example. The coin has seen better days.

Thanks

Your nomenclature was correct, MrBreeze, CH27 was just giving you James Wiles' nomenclature (DDO-001) as well. FS-101 is the variety's listing in the cherrypicker's guide, but most variety collectors prefer other variety databases like Wexler's or Wiles's, since they're a lot more complete.

I have not tried to remove any of the black junk on it. Should I put it in some acetone for a bit or just put it in a 2x2 as is?

I'm not a big fan of dipping coins in acetone, but yours seems a good candidate for such. Yes, it really doesn't harm the coin, and removes stuff, just prefer not to play with coins in general.
