My uncle showed me this; it dates from the 1930s when there was a logging operation and general store on a stop of the Prescott and Northwestern Railroad. He said it represented a week's pay in those days. He remembers the store.

I wonder if the workers were paid in tokens, not cash-and had to buy goods at inflated prices?

Most of those operations did pay in script since most of the operations were way off the beaten track
