Talk about worn dies! The final obverse pic seems to show a gash down across the forehead into the jaw - is that actually the case?  to the CCF!

good eye - yes, there are some parallel scratches running down the side of the face. This is the best I could do to get a better picture:

To me, this looks more like an abrasion than a lamination.

I would agree that I believe it is abrasion.

Old, old dies. I'll say AU55--light wear, a few light dings, soft wheat stalks, and the abrasion.
