What you have is some sort of stain or foreign substance on your coin. No "official" name for it. Can you tell if the spot might be glue? (Is the spot raised on it?) to the CCF! Probably gunked on there with some nasty sticky substance it encountered in the pretty degrading existence of a penny. A die error (AKA a die event or variety) would not affect the color of the coin, only the appearance of the of the image struck on it. Report this Post to the Staff
