Will Discolouration Decrease Value?

Do they have any value or does the colour make them so unattractive that they don't have any value to a collector? Thanks in advance ... Report this Post to the Staff

That is, a ring of even tone around the rim is preferable to something that is only on one side. I've even heard it said that, if there are two areas of toning, a left-right bracketing is preferable to something assymetric..... Real toning will still show strong lustre through the colours... look at any early specimen or proof strike, as an example. This coin is nickel and of little collector value but the coins that are taken home usually have grade and eye appeal working together. Report this Post to the Staff
