I know nothing about mint errors but got this in change today and wondered if this was during or post minting

UK-20-P-With-Large-Die-Crack/Chip

I have read some threads on die breaks and the line going up from QEII's head is raised, but then there is this quite large lump of something stuck on her ear (maybe it's a bluetooth headset?)

Wasn't sure if someone had been out with the solder?

That looks like a real die crack to me, so I'm guessing the lump is in some way related?
It could be that stresses during the strike focused on the crack in the center which started chipping away the die?
I think I see the crack continuing to the corner of QEII's mouth, and I'll guess this die was getting close to failure.
Interesting die crack/chip. If you don't mind, I might move this to the world coin variety/error forum--after it gets attention here.

Hi Kurt,

Yes that's fine to move it. Since we have a UK forum and a world error forum I wasn't sure which one to put it in.
