I picked up a damaged 1807 Draped Bust (Heraldic Eagle) Half Dollar years ago as a type coin for relatively cheap: It was good enough for my virtual type album, but I've always thought about upgrading it to a problem free coin. And I finally got around to doing it! This was an ebay purchase. The seller was asking $1600 with offers allowed, so I offered him $1400, figuring he would counter at $1500. He actually accepted my offer, so I got it for the $1400. I still probably paid a bit too much (the value of these has dropped recently), but I'm happy at that price.

Very decent example, though to be honest, I don't like it as much as many of the other fine coins in your collection.

Congrats on the upgrade. It looks like that obverse die didn't have much more life to it.

Very nice coin, the heraldic eagle is awesome and this is my favorite reverse, eagle looks like ready for war plus the cloud dropping stars wow.. Nice update!

I think you did fine on the price. I'm diggin' the die-crack. As for the 1807, when talking about coinage from around that period in time, for me personally used and abused like that one are more appealing than straight graded or mint-state. It's the intended purpose and history aspect.

Ooooo, die crack on the 1806. Die cracks on 19th century coins always get my attention.
Nice 1807 and a nicer upgrade. Well done.

Might just be the lighting, but the obv of the 1806 looks like it was heavily messed with.

A combination of the lighting and some scratches on the plastic holder.
