I purchased a bulk bage full of nickel dollars and 50 cent coins and I found this and thought I would get some opinions on what it might have been struck through.

Looks like either a planchet flaw or PMD - I don't think that it would be possible to identify it as a strike-thru, as it is not a distinct shape.

Nice strike-through, but you are stretching it a bit calling it "large"... are you a fisherman by chance?

I think I got a little too excited when posting this, I should have said it was the largest strike through I have personally found so far, and yes I am a fisherman lol.

Thank you all for the replies, I just found it fairly interesting to find a strike through this size on a 50 cent coin, seems like it would have been big enough that they would have caught it before leaving the mint.

Not in 1973, they did all the quality control by eye, not like today, with the laser scanners, etc..
