Hello guys, I have owned a similar one of these tokens for about 15 years and have been unable to identify it also. I got it on ebay from a British seller. He thought it might be a farthing token from the early 19th century. My token is 17mm and 2.92 grams and looks to be brass. I am having a problem with posting pics [browser and file size] and don't have time till after work but she looks to be holding 2 fish under her arm and maybe a sword in her hand. Hope this helps a bit .

Thanks for the welcome! Could you please put this back? It was meant to be part of the conversation ,not a separate topic.

Welcome to The Beekeeper! It's always good to have more than one hobby.

I'm the original poster of that alleged jeton you were responding to, and while I haven't found the time yet to pursue the research tips it drew from CCF members, I'm still primarily attracted to the Stockport connection suggested by TNG.

I'm glad you mentioned its size...something I'd neglected entirely. Its 17mm diameter makes it a shade smaller than the British half-farthing (18mm) and considerably smaller than the Columbia Farthing series (21.1mm). But since these brass pieces of ours are undenominated, any thought of a relationship between size and "value" is just speculation.

I think your eyeballing those fish is another great step forward, research-wise. Stockport's seated Commerce carries a cornucopia, but maybe I can find the same allegorical depiction of Commerce on some other city's seal or arms, now that we know what ours is holding.

So it's back to the library (and the Internet) for me, and ever onward! Thanks for signing on!
