The 1968 cents hand an issue with a spreading master die that year.

They changed to a new master hub in 1969 that fixed the issue of the devices ending up on the rim.

Note how the devices and bust are thinner on the 1969? That is because of the swelling of the master hub. This had been an issue for many years. The bust was showing weakness years ago and they added channeling to the master hub:

This issue was also altered a bit on the throat on the 1960's cents. But it is progressive and it was changed on the following year. On the 1982 cents, they had a large and small date that year that was the same issue. The master hub was again swelling. So they newly created master hub made the devices normal, but were smaller in size. SO they called these large and small dates. This issue happens on many denominations. We notice it when it is changed in the same year, but often over looked when it isn't changed during the same year. Some years like 1960 and 1974 were changed for a different issue. But those where from different reasons.

So the swelling of the master hub is not considered an error?
Hopefully there's a market for these.

They all looked like that, that year from all three mints. So they are common.
