Hello everyone. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm new here and I found a dime in my pocket change that I'm not sure what's going on with it. I've seen some pretty damaged coins but nothing like this and just wondering if someone can explain what I'm seeing. It appears like the rim is pealed open almost all the way around the edge. I hope my pics came out well they were taken with my phone while at work.

PMD. Acid damage, acid eats away the copper layer, leaving the outer layers.

Thanks everyone. Crazy how an acid eats the layers differently. I wonder how long ago it ended up like that and what acid did so much damage. Getting my 3.5 year old into collecting coins after we found my grandfathers collection as he passed 15 years ago. Figured it would be something fun we can do together and she would learn paying attention to detail and give her something to do sifting my box of pocket change from the past 20 years and later my grandfathers box of coins. This one is a great example of why not to clean a coin I'd say. Thank everyone.
