not a big fan of the gold dollars, but dang this coin is nice. Just pulled from an uncirculated mint set.

Grade opinions?

Don't like these either. This seems at first glance to be a solid MS-67, but then look at all the rim cuts!

Easy MS-67, honest shot at 68. I'm also not a fan of these, but it is a great looking coin. Marks on the rim are very typical on these, and this one actually looks better than most.

I don't think I'd ever submit one of these for grading, this one probably being the exception.

This coin like most that I've encountered opening up a few rolls myself is typical of the rim hits.
It is a nice one in regards of no visual spotting (also somewhat typical of this coin) virtually free of dings, scratches, and cuts from other coins.
I wouldn't be surprised that this may grade MS68 but then again the rim hits (because of being rounded) may suggest a lower grade between MS66-67....Just my own opinion here!

In MS67 it is worth $750 and needs to grade at least that high to justify slabbing. I am wondering if all the scratches and that ding on the rim will hold it back?

it's not going to grade MS67 it's going to get tagged as SP67 or "SMS" and MS67 or some variation of that because it's from a mint set and it's not a buisness strike finish.

As far as MS67 goes it's great at a 67 as a "Business strike finish". However 67 is low for the mint set satin finish coins and common.

PCGS comparison:
Business strike 371 in MS67, 11 in MS68, 1 in MS69
Satin Finish 349 in SP67, 2,154 in SP68, 873 in SP69, 4 in SP70

And it's more like $35 in MS67 really, if it goes MS68 it's heading toward $1000.
But,
this is going to go SP in which case maybe $6 or $8 tops and that's graded price.

the only Satin finish 2005P sac that has a value over $50 is the SP70 graded ones.

Approaching MS67 for me--could be solid 66. Nice.

@ Big-Kingdom, I had considered that as well, more so after the quarter was posted. But comparing between the two, the Satin SMS set is usually better struck. The reverse is more noticeable than the obverse. The eagles breast feathers especially are sharper on the SMS. Luster is tricky, depending on how the pics were taken, but these don't seem to have the same consistent "flatness", if you will, that the Satins have. Again , the way the pics were taken can affect that, I could definitely be wrong.

@KY, what packaging did these come in?

EDIT: now I'm questioning it after looking at the Quarter again

These came in the uncirculated mint sets...which I did not realize were how the satin finish coins were distributed.
