Silver round with the indian on front 2001, liberty above, on the reverse is the buffalo and United States of America E pluribus unum.

It looks like the 2001 silver dollar but where the One Dollar would be it says 1oz 999 silver.

Any ideas ?

You bought a silver "tribute" round.

Even the mint warned against this! I hope you bought it at spot!

Hi , no it isn't like that one.I seen one like it last week on ebay and thought it was the 2001 silver dollar but it isn't , I seen this one tonight and its the same.Im not sure what it is but last weeks sold for $32 and I paid $38 tonight.Ill get a pic off ebay of it.

Do you reckon its one of these replicas ? Ive a feeling it might be but wonder why it consistently got a good price ?

This is still a silver round and not a US Mint coin. Please do yourself a favor and buy yourself a Red Book and look it over on what you would like to buy before you buy anymore coins. We all made mistakes when we first started out by not doing coin research and in collecting coins knowledge is very important. And when you get to rare coins, you need to know more about that coin then the seller does. My first mistake was for more then $38 if that makes you feel any better! When I started buying and reading books the tables turned in my favor. Without books the light bulb doesn't shine nearly as bright!!

It's amazing how a little Due Diligence will help overcome deception. We all have been taken sometime in our life, me more then a few.

Hi Guys , thank you for the input.I did realise it wasnt the $1 , heres where the water muddys for me though.
I watched one on ebay go just like this for about $36 , I was buying silver rounds anyway for around $14 and I wondered why this particular round was selling for so much more.
Another one came up for auction and I got caught up with what appeared to be a seller bidding against me , I can only guess that due to his very high feedback rating in the thousands.

I suspected id paid too much but I still wonder , why does this particular round sell for a consistently higer price than other rounds?
Ive seen other buffalo rounds go for $15 but they are not the same ones.
