1931 Wheat Penny With Interesting Damage

My current opinion would lead me to post mint damage but I wanted to get other opinions. Has anyone seen die damage of this nature? Papa Sid New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 10/09/2020 9:54 pm no abrasions. the coin doesn't appear distorted as if it was struck by something while in circ. there is no staining as if a chemical eroded or otherwise removed the missing material... it's as if the copper-alloy material just neatly "fell-out". I'm guessing the raw material couldve arrived flawed at the mint from the supplier...the flaw didnt reveal itself till much later in circ Edited by Papa Sid 10/09/2020 9:55 pm Report this Post to the Staff
