I've determined that this is an Irish issue, that's why I can't find it in my British coin book. I've only seen one small mention of it in the web as well. Can anyone tell me about the rarity and possible value. I've scanned through some auction sites as well and can't find this exact date.

It's a groat (no sixpences were issued), and they are quite scarce.

As far as I can find, no Philip and Mary sixpences were issued, so I suspect this is a Groat. Reference in the Coincraft book is IPM4D-025.
These are generally more common than the English Philip and Mary coins, but still attractive and collectable. They rarely turn up in really good condition and it is likely they were crudely made in the first place.
The book gives a value in "VG" at £50, but it is an old book!

Yes, I believe this is a Groat and not a Sixpence. So now when I search the web as a Groat, I'm seeing more of them. They do appear to be scarce, and rarely in decent condition. Its also important to show a clear last digit, in the date.

Thanks again!

It's a shame yours is so clipped. Still, nice to have though.

Always nice to see some medieval silver posted. Well done.
