Dear all,

I came across this Straits Settlements 1/2 Cent 1883. I would like to add this missing piece in my collection within my budget but am concern about the authenticity. Looking forward to get some helpful opinions.

It looks like a cast fake, not environmentally damaged (I say this mainly based on the denticles, portrait, etc.). As I am going largely on gut here, I will leave the floor for others to weigh in. My advice would be steer clear of it either way, as even if genuine, this is a really poor example - it would be well worth saving a bit longer, and buying something that doesn't raise questions.

Going to have to agree with norantyki, doesn't look good.

Nowadays, whenever I encounter a coin that I'm on the fence or not at least 90% confident, I'll just avoid it.
