Hey all,

I found this Quarter tonight, curious what everyone thinks. Maybe struck through something?

Thanks,
-GB

Could be struck through gritty grease or maybe just glue on the coin?

Definitely not Glue, it's indented on the coin. I'm sure no increase in value, just Strange, but I'll put in a save pile :)

Thanks!

it's Struck Through Grease, maybe also some grit due to incomplete wiping of the die faces. Occasionally they need to wipe it all down, and get off the excess, if they don't these start happening.

this happened even back with the State Quarters. sometimes the grease or grit fills up letters or numbers sometimes it pools and causes a pocket on the surface and distorts the luster.

it looks like a thin layer of oil or grease that's full of metal debris from the minting process. I find these fairly often and put them in 2x2s and add them to the collection. I'd save this one if I were you, not that it's a rare or valuable coin, but because it IS a struck through error and it only cost you a quarter!
