Not counting errorfinder's DDO and strictly on retail price, they all seem to be a good deal at $1 per roll.

UNC rolls of the '76-D, '77-D and '78-D retail for $2 each (Coinage Magazine Dec. '08) while the other rolls are $1.75 for the '79-D and '80-D and $1.50 for '74-D, '75-D, and '77-P.

Clearly the '77-D is the way to go if it's a nice BU roll (mostly red). You get a shot at a DDO and 50 rolls with a retail value of $100 for $50!

Sounds like a good deal to me.

Thanks for the replies......I will go with the 77D, but I don't know if I will open. The old red box, holding rolls, is direct from the Denver Mint. They were bought each year from the bank the sellers wife worked at. The end coins show discoloration, but I have to asssume the rest are untouched. What are the oddds of pulling a MS 66 or 67?

My book shows the 1976-D at $20 in MS-65. I would buy them.

Odds on getting a 67 from the big boys (PCGS, NGC) are pretty slim. A 66 should not be a problem with 2500 coins and a few 65s are almost a given.

I agree with onejinx, buy as many boxes as you can afford.

Buy them all if possible. Sell off the rolls individually that you don't want to keep. You will atleast get your money back from rolls alone, if not make a profit. I would be one of the first willing to buy a roll or two of each year from you for $1.50. That's $8 profit off me alone. Just a suggestion.

Am I doing the math correct here? 2500 Penny Boxes at $50.00 each being $125,000.00? I would be willing to buy a few rolls as well. Drop me a PM.
