I'm confused. You want to know if you should have your coin graded? Or you want to sell it because of hard times?

Hi ICED! A coin needs to be worth in excess of $150 or so to be worth grading. Use the CCF for help in learning grading. Try http://www.numismedia.comfor a guide to values.

A graded coin appeals to people who need reassurance. Experienced collectors and dealers routinely buy and sell coins in an ungraded (professionally) condition.

Way to many people send out coins to be graded and slabbed. In so many instances, they end up with a coin in plastic not worth the plastic.

Agree with T-Bop. The PCGS photograde site is what I use to guesstimate all the type coins that I'm less familiar with. High quality images for every grade of every coin makes it reasonably easy to match your coin up with a grade and know you are at least in the ballpark.
