if you can't afford the 2x2 flips I would suggest maybe sell off part of your collection in order to preserve the rest.

I would love to get everything I need to help my storage issues but I am in the woods so to speak. Between parents and job covid is stopping everything but the bills. I'm sure things will get better soon enough and I will be able to preserve properly. I don't know anything about selling my collection and don't even have a bank account. Spoon... Wish me luck I will need it.

Would cardboard be okay since it's not bleached? I am crafty, I can always make my own from cardboard and food grade bags made without pvc and what not.

How about some cheap plastic coin tubes or some old/use (clean) plastic medicine bottles? Much less storage space.

That's one idea but I don't want them to touch and the chemicals those bottles are made of is not good for the coins

Wait, clueless lady here, why shouldn't the coins touch? I bought a bunch of tubes off of a reputable coin storage website to store my random ikes and Susan Bs in, instead of ziplocks. But the coins are all stacked up like they would be in bank rolls. Also note these are just face value circulation coins so I don't think it matters for my instance but now I'm curious. Edited: I'm over here giggling LOOK what I just found! http://goccf.com/t/388398 nevermind my question!! lol

If they're stacked in a roll, having the coins touch isn't such a big deal and should be ok since the rims are designed to protect the fields and devices.
If the coins are loose in a bag they'll bang against each other and cause contact marks that should be prevented

Not all sandwich bags are good, some I notice turn green after a few months and I found out why (Its only world bulk mix I store in them like 1980s 1 franc coins from France etc). They were an el cheapo home brand of sandwich baggy made in China.
The premium brands made in NZ or Australia, were better and remained clear.
Moral - don't use budget baggies!

Sometimes you really do get what you pay for. I still haven't been able to get holders unfortunately but I have made sure to use paper towels that have not been bleached and I have always checked the ingredients for bags before I purchase them. It seems fine so far but I guess time will tell.

Of course it depends on the numismatic value ... junk silver, save the paper towels ... better coins, invest in the proper storage materials (2x2 flips, coin holders etc.)
