Fight fire with fire. What you do is advertise how easy it is to make money flipping US Mint products on reddit and [deals that are slick] and twitter, etc. Finally when their system doesn't work at all, maybe they'll fix it.

I might be the only one that thinks their system is working as intended. If you have 50k people trying to order 7500 coins you will need to pick winners and losers before entering the site. As soon as someone logs on Cloudflare randomly assigns them a winner or loser tag. Winners can proceed to checkout. Losers are constantly hit with delays.

An interesting take on it. Of course, we all think the losers should be the bots, but what do they care?

Perhaps the Mint should give you 5 minutes to check out once you get the item in your cart.

Luck of the draw I guess. If you really want one there are enough people selling them if you are willing to pay for it. I suppose they could have minted enough to meet demand but then the exclusivity goes out the window and it becomes just another silver round

If they opened up the purchase time based on the order history of the user, it would level the load, significantly reduce the success of the bots and put loyal customers to the front of the list. For example, those who have purchase silver metals in the past would get a certain number of points for each. The same could be done for ASE's or AGE's. Users would get points for buying the unlimited mintage releases. The more they purchased in the past, the sooner they'd be able to place an order for the limited releases.

What are the thoughts on grading the silver medal? I see people selling graded medals on ebay, but does that truly figure in to value the same way it would for a coin, or is it just ebay marketing?

I think MS70 examples will sell for a healthy premium and 67-69 will be "average market"

@grapecollects I guess I'll likely send in my ASE and medal when they come and hope for the best.

I'll do the same, though I missed the ASE

Mine will stay in the OGP. I have not graded any of these offerings in the past, no need to start now.

After much difficulty I was fortunate to be able to purchase a gold coin. I think. I got a confirm email with an order number, but I keep checking my online banking and they haven't taken my money yet. Not over til the fat lady sings.

Quote: Perhaps the Mint should give you 5 minutes to check out once you get the item in your cart Given how the Mints site currently handles traffic it would probably make little difference. There's a golf site which offers similar limited releases and used a timer once an item was added. It would still slow down considerably while trying to check out and nowhere near 100k people trying for it.
