Was watching the "live" auction at Heritage tonight just for fun and noticed a slabbed 1995 penny for sale.
To my astonishment, the bidders went nuts tossing hundreds of dollars at it! I think it sold for over a thousands dollar!

Am I missing something? Should I stop tossing pennies in the take-it-leave-it bowl at the local sandwich shop?

High grade DDO? Error? Can you post a link to the auction?

After checking HA Auction History I have no idea what you're seeing. The last 1995 Lincoln that sold did so on November 3ed for $165. It was a MS-68 1995 FS-101. The last one that sold for a considerable amount was on Aug 9, 2020 for $843.60 and was the same DDO but 68+.

Yeah, more specifics are needed on the auction to help with a response. Please post a link.

But .... I wonder if it could have been the 1995 D FS103
Heritage sold. LINK to HA MS67 from Aug 2014 ($4,200)-

Edit: I just noticed CopperCoins and DoubledDies have their 1995D 1DO-003/WDDO-003 (which crosses with VarietyVista DDO-003) listed as FS101, which is not correct.
CC http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dies...ie_state=eds

DD http://doubleddie.com/506234.html

The correct FS# at CC & DD should be FS103

Variety Vista has their 1995D DDO-003 listed as FS#103.

A 1995D in 68+ or 69 could fetch 5 figures:

$180 is beyond extreme. A total of 11,957 DDO's are graded in red. Of those, 3003 and 23+ are within the MS67RD, grade. 2801 and 16 in the next two respectively, MS69 being the top grade. So that alone leaves me to ponder why someone would over bid. People do foolish things every day without a little research first.

I can see high prices for the 55 but I have to many of the 95's to think they would ever be worth to much.
