Wladyslaw I "The Short" was an important ruler for Poland. after two centuries of fragmentation into various duchies, he brought Poland together again as a kingdom under a restored Piast king. He reigned first as grand duke from 1305-20, then as king from 1320-33. His coins are all fairly scarce, this bracteate the one that shows up most often at auction.

Neat coin!

I hope to get a bracteate for my own collection some day... passed on a few back around 2012 because I wasn't sufficiently interested in medievals at the time, never saw one that I could afford again.

(I have one coin that might be a bracteate, but it probably isn't, and in any case it's probably too far gone to identify.)
