Need Help For My First Ancient Coin Purchase

Klocka New Member Sweden 3 Posts	Posted 11/11/2020 10:22 am I am in the process to buy my first ancient coin. It shows Octavian on one side and the spoils of the battle of auctium on the other side. The price is 750USD. I want to know -: Does the coin look original? Is the price good/correct? I think the coin is in good shape - am I correct? Report this Post to the Staff

You should really purchase from trusted sellers and/or the vendors on vcoins.com (especially when first starting). The large auction houses are also a good bet (CNG, Roma Numismatic etc.). I would stay away from a large purchase like that unless I was guaranteed it was genuine for as long as I own the coin. I agree that you shouldn't spend this much money on any coin without an unconditional lifetime guarantee from the seller. This is a popular and expensive type, but not particularly rare. IMO, $750 is too much to pay, given the die gouge on the eye. I would personally not pay more than $500. Report this Post to the Staff
