More uncharted (and cold) waters for me folks. I picked this up today at my favorite price I might add.

I found it interesting once I found it in the Krause book. Seems in 1940 these were pulled from circulation and sent to the U.S. to be "holed" to avoid confusion with the Danish 1 Krone.

Now, I know all World coinage has some history behind it, but the odd pieces like this are what seems to attract me most.

Wow, my World collection is growing by leaps and bounds!

Wow! I want one now! I really like the coins with animals and crests on them (and this one has both!) Nice find

Nicer to see one without a hole! That must be a fraction of the original 310K mintage.
I've always liked this rendition of a polar bear...I'll have to find one of these for myself.

Yes, come to the darkside Clembo.

I'm kind of jealous here. There is still no Greenland in my collection...yet. And that is a great coin for free.

Is there really a dark side to collecting Snowman?

I'll always love my U.S. type but since I do see a lot more World these days and usually end up looking it up why not add some pieces?
Honestly, it's the first I've seen from Greenland but the story behind it was what got me.

Gotta admit though I have my eye on another one. Found 3 1931 Netherlands 1 Cent pieces. All are nice XF-AU with great color and tone. I figure he'll charge me a few bucks but who knows I may get lucky again.

If I get it I'll post it.
