Hi Everyone, I have a 2010 S Hit Springs AK gold quarter. Now I know that they made gold plated America the Beautiful Quarters, but site after site I have looked on says that the only Hot Springs AK quarter with a S mint mark is silver. Does anyone know anything about this ?

Some after-market third party plated your non-silver 2010-S quarter. I guess they could have gold plated over a silver quarter, but why? My guess is that your quarter was among the 1402K non silver San Francisco quarters minted.

Ok I just weighed it and it weighs 5.74 so it's not silver and I don't believe they made a S mint mark Hot Springs Quarter that wasn't silver

They made 1,402,889 2010-S quarters that were not silver. Yours was one of them. Source: The Official Red Book' A Guide Book Of United States coins.
