I have a bunch of clad kennedys I am thinking of returning to the bank... Any specific dates I need to hold on to? I know the S mint marks and the NIFC coins but I was curious about certain years people hold on to. thanks
Rest in Peace

Just in case you didn't know, 1987 and 1987 D are NIFC coins. They were issued in mint sets only.

Anything before and including 1970. Also, 1978 is a rarer one along with 1985 and 1986. 1987 was never released to the public through the banks.

Yeah I know all the 90% silver dates from 1964 and the 40% from 65 to 69 and 1970d which is a NIFC I think... 1970p is good too? thanks for replies

If you find a 1970-P Kennedy, then you definitely have a keeper as none were minted (also no Phillys in 68 and 69 as well)

1970-D was only issued in Mint Sets and is the key mintage date for the series although there have been a few escapees into circulation over the years.

Buried in the long-running JFK thread https://goccf.com/t/22710

are data we obtained on the tabulatioins of every coin from several bank boxes of halves. The most difficult dates were 78, 78D, 79D, 82P and 82D, which are in line with low mintages. 86P & D were also tough. Also look out for the 99 P & D, which are very low mintages.

I started putting together a roll set of JFKs, trying to go for all AU/BUs and I'mn having surprising difficulty for 90 P&D, 91P&D, 92P&D, 93P and the mid to late 80S. Even in keeping every 78 and 78D no matter how bad the condition, I still don't have complete rolls of those two.

Wow! I just got a ziplock full of halves from the bank! I was thinking of returning them to the bank today because none of them were silver but now I will give them a second look!

Thanks!

I've been roll hunting halves since this past June, and from my experience, here's the clads I'd save aside from Proofs and NIFC: 1978 P&D 1979-D 1982 P&D 1983 P&D 1986 P&D, 1988 P&D 1999 P&D
