1936 Cent - Double Die?

You are looking at outside edges of the devices. This is Machine Doubling. On a doubled die, the spread would be on the center of the coin, enlarges the devices and would show contour on each side of the devices. MD removes the contour off the devices. That is what you are looking at. Look at the centers of the devices:






Note the centers on these doubled dies devices. That is the area to look for a doubled die. The outside edges are were MD is often seen.
