Its about the searching, and when you find something you are just...so estactic...it is just fun to find a 1945 penny. Or Even a 1982 Small date. And for a box of 2000 and above, Check all those 2000's. Haha.

I'd love to have gotten all those 2009's coach, I love them!

Howdy all,
New member here,I'm into buying a box every week. So far I have found 2 97 LMC with the double earlobe, a few ddies and other assorted oddities. Some boxes I'll find 20 or 30 wheat cents and I always save all of the pre 1983 pennies

I went to Lowe's and bought a small red plastic box with 30 little drawers. I check each coin for the semi major doubles under a large magnifying glass and I sort all of the au/bu coins into a different drawer for each year. When a drawer gets filled, I go through each under a stereo microscope. That way you are comparing the same coin and it should be easier to notice a double. I only check the zinc cents in this way. I save all of the copper except road kill. This process seems to work well for me.

I have heard that the early to mid 80's pennies are going to hard to find in a few years because of the way they self distruct. I have been putting them aside and must have 50dollars worth by now. I sometimes wonder if I should just spend them.

I usually go through a box in 4-5 hours, just looking for anything major.

Hey livefree I keep all BU coins regardless of date.
I sort by 60's 70's 2009's then all the other BU's also I put the wheaties and S MM's in another small container. Heck the most wheaties I have ever gotten is 14. I would sure be doing a happy dance if I got 30 of them buggers.

BadThad - I almost have 1956 to 2004 complete. I think there are 1 or 2 I'm missing there. 1956 and back is proving to be tough!
