Hi Coppertop :) That's a Rock Dove and one of the Canadian 1967 Centennial patterns by artist Alex Colville. All circulation coins denominations had those animals designs for that special Centennial year anniversary. Circulation coins reverted back to regular design again for 1968. It was just 1967 had these designs.

You can see the designs for all the coins here:

Johnny...40 here for now...will be older too soon! I hit the bank for a couple of boxes since my work schedule won't allow me to get to the bank until Monday. Anyway, one of the String boxes was a new Shield box. Not alot of searching there. I guess it's a good thing about the little holes on top of the box to peek in. That way I don't have to rip it open. Trying to decide what to do with them.

$25 dollar box last night.

16 wheats - 1909 (vf!), 1935-d, 1935-s, 1940-s, 1941, 1944 (x2), 1947-d (x2), 1950, 1951-d, 1955, 1957 (x3), 1958-d.

1 blank planchet! First one ever for me and in the same roll as the 1909.

2 dimes

12 canadians

2 euro 2c coins and 28.6% copper. Not a bad box!

After finding plenty of wheats in one box (26 was what I found on my previous hunt), I found only seven in today's box. The high note is that after searching through several boxes, I finally found a 1938-dated coin in circulation!

The other finds were:

*25 Canadians.
*My first Bermudan Pig Penny.
*A 2009-D Professional Life cent.

But this is far from the end of the story...

I guess fate wasn't pleased that I got only seven wheats from this hunt, so it gave me a present at the CoinStar where I dumped today.

The gentleman in front of me was dumping his stash of Wheats, and I noticed there was at least one steel penny in the reject tray. I told him that the machine won't accept the steel cents, and he took his change with him to the register to redeem his receipt.

I thought he had just given the pennies to the cashier to add to his receipt, but he put him in the "take a penny" tray. I peeked into it and exchanged some of my pennies for the 18 he did leave in there. I was amazed at what I found:

*Eight '43 pennies, including one '43-S.
*10 Wheats, with the oldest being 1927.

In the trash bin near the CoinStar machine, I noticed the gentleman's wrappers and I was a bit let down that I missed the chance to buy some of the rolls from him, notably the "1920's duplicates" one, but finding the steel cents was a nice surprise.
