Dimes out of cent bags are really common, I average about 10 per $50 face bag of cents.

USBANK JSUT CALLED ME! said they couldn;t give me pennies anymore unless I paid $4.75 a box!!?!!?! What do I do? is there anyhting I can say or do? I cannot believe this

and maybe can when I get enough posts
didn't know saying that in the future I would like to trade would cause an uproar from mods
good to know

It was just a friendly reminder Chris. Everyone is really helpful around here and just looking out for one another.  Ricardocody - I have a bunch of wheat pennies I dumped back into a bag. I can't really read the dates that you need so if you could post or PM the dates for me that would be great since I have a lot of dates to fill as well. Chris - Once you get past the post minimum, I'd like to know what you have as well. Great finds everyone, keep it up! I just picked up a few CWR's from my bank and when I got home I saw that they were all marked. I have about 5-6 rolls each of 61,62,63,64,73,74, and a roll of 43's. I need to go back to the bank and see if they have any rolls marked 1909.  Guess I'll be searching for errors when I get off of work tonight. |

RSxtacee, best way would be just to say "Ricardo, PM me" ....you are allowed to respond, they just like it better when it is done on the correct forum...no biggie.
w1a9c8k5...personally, I'd probably find another bank or just pay up...it's way too much fun for me to quit.I'm lucky enough to have a bank with a counter for it's customers...the bags are cheap, but I offered and they declined so I'm set for now.

I would say as long as you keep the box ordering down to a reasonable amount the banks aren't gonna mess with you
I mean when I see people on the half dollar forums getting 10 boxes and stuff I scratch my head
I think that kinda stuff might ruin it all for us eventually
I don't think that a few boxes a week will hurt though

I get 4 boxes of all differing coin a week
I ask the bank teller what he can give me though I never ask for specifics
he gives me whatever boxes he can...usually anything I want
another tip. Maybe just try a different branch of the same bank
before you switch everything around, it might be an easier source to get coin
or just ask if the teller can give any coin, when I started I would only get 10 bucks of pennies and 10 bucks of nickels
they probably wouldn't give you a problem for getting less coinage they took in from others

I went into the bank and talked to teh manager. She explained it cost them $4.75 to get them so I would have to pay that. "It's only fair to charge you what we are charged". I then asked her if Brinks charged them to haul away coins and she said yes. So I asked if I would take every coin they counted off their hands would they pay me? she laughed and said no. I then proceeded to ask for the money they have earned off my my balance. She looked very puzlled and asked me to explain. I said, " I have had a balance of over 7,000.00 for the past 5 years in my checking account. Never dipping below, and I would like the money you have earned off of loaning my money out for small loans and such." She said, "we can't do that" I smiled asked her to clear my account all but $100 and told her iw ould be back every week to cash my coins in there (they don't charge for that, yet)
I used to only pick up coins from there (their counted bags and a few boxes) I would have to say it was pretty even amount). Now it will be just me dropped pennies off and letting them pay the fews to haul my coins away.

Hey Maineman, not taking a break just checking every decent coin I got from the 60's and 70's looking for DD's and MM varieties. Have found a few decent ones and a few that are to minor to be listed, I really enjoy that part of roll searching. Also been reading and taking notes from the Die Variety News bi-monthly newsletter it is really cool teaching me alot. If it wasn't raining would get me a box today, will for sure get one Monday as I am about caught up.
My main bank started charging 4.00 for a box so I would get 10.00 and the wife would get 10.00 then I would hit another bank for 10.00 to get around their charges. Then when on the other side of town went into a branch of my main bank and asked them about a box and they don't charge for them so I dump at the big one and get 10.00 worth the hit the branch for a box. lol now I do 35.00 each time. Won't ever be giving this up way to much fun.

Oldcoach, glad to hear you didn't stop...I'm pretty stuck on looking for major stuff, but if I ever have to pay to play I'll probably do what you're doing...just too much fun to quit...I guess you figured out that the 99 WAM came from that "piggy bank" stash that my friends let me look through...I'm gonna have to take them out for dinner on that one. |
