Got one with a bar on the inside and one with a bar on the west side of the MM if I remember correctly. Really looking hard for any DD them suckers few and far between.

oldcoach...I know what you mean there...I've found exactly two...but one was a BU 42-D that I'd had for a while so that was pretty cool...my favorite is the 38-S/S/S I got from Coop. We'll be waiting for your pics !

here we go again with these debates. I sware...has this debate been raging since time immemorial?

just check different branches and/or try some different banks. I have 6 bank accounts now. if one can't do it, another can. often if they can't order me boxes they'll have at least a box or two worth in CWR that they're happy to give away. most of the tellers don't particularly enjoy having to empty all the coin into the fed bags to have it shipped out.

also, try not ordering the boxes, but asking 'hey do tyou think I could buy a box or two of pennies off ya?' often they'll just have extra boxes...the best days for you to go are wednesdays and thursdays.
you can get a lot of pennies without ordering, trust me.

right now, I'm racking up around 1200.00 a week in them, all without ordering.

Hello, I have a question I am hoping some people can give me some ideas how to solve.
I have need to sort approx $30,000 in pennies, yes no typo, I found a grocer who has just saved pennies for years out of his coin collecting habit as a child, approx 3ok worth in barrels, I think he probably pulled the wheat's out and never felt like rolling the rest. I am going to sort them mechanically to get the coppers out for a copper investment and then turn the rest over to a bank. Here is my dilemma, I know of no bank who will want me to dump such a large amount on them, I plan to do it over incriminates but still large amounts. So does any one have any idea how to dispose of for face value and not a large amount of fees gobs and gobs of pennies?
Any real ideas would be appreciated here.

you won't be able to dispose of them for face. that's just the nature of the beast. your best bet is to find a credit union that has coinstars for a lower fee.

Just got done my second box of cents and have been really enjoying it.

I found a 1910 cent, it is not in very good shape but for 101 years old I can only hope to look so good.

I went in a local bank to get a box of pennies yesterday. The teller ask if I just wanted one box. I told her that I would take all she wanted to get rid of. I ended up getting $400 worth. She said just don't bring them back. Some kid had saved them for years and just turned them all in. Should be interesting.

You have your work cut out! GOOD LUCK!

You should find a bank with a free coin machine in the lobby. Open an account with them and just keep dropping by every day or so and run coins into it, then deposit the proceeds. We have many banks with FREE coin machines in my area.

been looking through some pennies lately, finding not so much wheats anymore. id say of the customer wrapped, its about 1 every 5.00, or 7-10 for every $30-$50 searched.

did find a nice xf 1940 george IV, and a few late 30's. but nothing to jump at.

Hey Maineman I do not have any plans to search pennies, just a project to sell coppers and get my kids employed making some extra money while they go to college. I saw your other post, and I live in the Florida panhandle. I guess what I really need to find is one or several people who like to search the new ones for the errors and see if they would like to buy them, they would not have to worry about ordering cents and would have less to return and look through with out the coppers. Yes with that any wheat's would be gone, but I don't think there are that many wheat's left, I guess in that scenario it would have to be people who just are looking for the errors in the newer zincs, idea probably wouldn`t pan out, just a thought. I am not sure where you post more so I am posting this in both paces.......Darin

goldminer. I would take my time and look for the varieties! chances are the wheats are gone, true. but did he check for the varieties? maybe some WAMS or CAMS, or DDO's to be had... even the coppers, check those too.

i had a teller last week tell me of a woman that wanted to bring in her loose pennies but the CU didnt have a counting machine. the teller informed this woman of MYSELF and the collector I am and to bring them in for me!

unless the woman with the pennies decides to go to the coinstar, I'm screwed. I think I will ask the teller to tell that woman I will buy the pennies off of her with out the 9% coinstar fee and see what she thinks...
