Maineman is that 23 wams now? How many 1988 RDV006's you got? Found me a 1973D 1MM-002 D/D South earlier today. I got a son that teaches English in China and is going to bring me a bunch of coins from the Asian area when he comes to the states this summer. Gonna be learning about chinese coins then.

Two boxes completed (5000 cents) by a newbie cent searcher ... a quick update of my finds so far .... BTW ... those of you who follow my nickel find updates understand my passion for the statistics ... hope that same joy of cataloging my finds does not bother anyone in this thread. Sooo ... 2 Boxes ... 5000 USA cents .. Found 1292 copper cents total ... find rate of 25.84% Found 22 wheaties ... find rate of 0.44%. Oldest wheatie found is a 1934. Found 4 Canadian copper cents (Pre-1997). Oldest is 1971. Found one WAM ... 1998 AU55 or so. I have a particular interest in determining what percentage of the total 1982 USA cent coinage was copper versus zinc ... so that that end I have weighed on a accurate scale all 136 total 1982 cents I have found so far ... the bulk of my evidence (small sample size) is leaning greatly towards copper. The numbers ... Philly Mint ... 111 copper out of 121 total 1982-P Denver Mint ... 14 copper out of 15 total 1982-D Overall .... 125 copper out of 136 coins ... 91.9% copper. I'm truly enjoying my cent searches as a nice break from nickels. Enjoy David

Good stats! Thanks! Petty much what I see, most 1982 cents are large, date P copper. The small date copper P mints are very scarce in circulation. People talk about the SD zinc being tough, which they are, but the SD copper is really tough IMO.

All right. Time to go through all these CWR's I picked up. I have a few dated from 60-64. One roll of 43's, and one roll of 74's. The rest are a mix of early 70's to late 90's. It's odd for me to see the 70's - 90's in such good shape and it's making me wonder if they are cleaned/dipped. Some of the colors seem to be off, then again, I'm not used to seeing coins of those years that aren't worn and toned. I'll try and get some pictures up later on after I'm done sorting. Anything specific I should be looking for in the 60-64 rolls?

http://www.coppercoins.com/advsearch.php Go here and you can find what you need and see if it is worth your time to search the year and mints. 1964P has the 1964P-1DR-001 worth 110 in ms65 and then you have the 1960P and 1960D Large and small dates. There are many other MM's and DD's especially if you just like the hunting like I do. Plus always be on the lookout for errors like KoinKid found which is totally cool looking. KoinKid what you have is some type of mint error two of the best have replied to your other post stating that pretty emphatically. Going to pick me up 35.00 worth today will start sorting tomorrow, still have around 400-500 70's stuff left to search.

Good luck oldcoach...and if you don't find a WAM soon, send me your address and I'll send you a couple for good luck. I bought two from Numismo back in October and then started finding them. KoinKid, what oldcaoch said.

I went to one of the banks that I use and they would did not have enough boxes of cents to let me buy one. I was wondering does this happen often?

rj11248...depends on the bank..mine offers a coin counting service and in 4 1/2 months I have only had one week they didn't give me a $50 bag.Best advice is to talk to them and let them know what you are doing...they eiether will or will not be willing to help you...maybe even charge for the service. But I think being up front atthe beginning is best for both you and the bank.It certainly was for me.

Yea RJ it does happen from time to time especially the smaller banks. Take in what Maineman said he has it covered. Maineman may have to take you up on that offer one of these days. I think I just found a '22-D in a roll. From that going to guess it must be wore down a bit, regardless it is a super find.

It's definitely a 192X-D... given what remains, it looks like a 2. I'm gonna try to get some good pics (As good as I can get right now with my phone and loupe) of it and make a thread, let y'all argue it out.
