I was about to say congratulations for your 1909 vdb while I was thinking I only found one after over 400 brinks boxes plus I have no idea how many cwr's , as I was typing my whife gave what she found today in the store's register (as I said many times she work on mcds) so as I'm checking the coins = 51D,36S and then I saw a LWC reverse up that looks old looking with the magnifying for doubling etc my heart start to faster as I se VDB on it     Has been half of hour so I ll flip the coin and check the reverse ......... 1909 vdb oh well was good for a moment , anyway is a vdb ! |

Ricardocody, i'd be so nervous about flipping over that vdb. i'd hold it wishing to see an s on the other side. that would be a rush.

I ran through "2" string boxes last night with some cool finds. The wheat numbers were down with finding only 26 between the two boxes. Out of the first box came my latest indian head. It was a very nice and clean looking injun even though "LIBERTY" was long gone. And, out of those 26 wheats, 5 were pre-1940. I added a 1939, 1936, 1932, 1930D, and a 1927D to my wheat pile. The 1932 was the second ever I've found in thousands of cents searched. And, the 1927D, it was third ever. I ended up with 13 canadian copper with "2" of them being that "RockDove". I ended up with the usual % of coppers. For now I'll say roughly 28%. I'll know better when I hit the dump bank tomorrow. I couldn't find anything else to brag about except my latest 2-cent euro. There were alot of really dirty coins in there. No cool errors or varieties. I couldn't even find a die break/crack in any of the pennies. It had so many 88's and 88D's but no good ones

Rob, you can now add a 1987 doubled ear to your search list along with the 88 I told you about.One has been confirmed by Wexler. Those D wheats are always cool to find...

Opened 10 Rolls Today...nothing too exciting, one wheat, a 56d. Couple Hole fillers, a Nice, but weak struck 70d and MAYBE a 70s Small Date, it just looks different than all the other 70s I have  Edited by sch1tz0fr3nik

Looks like a large date, the top of the 7 isn't level with the tops of the rest of the numbers. And the curve of the 9 points towards the bottom tip of the 7.

Pat...it's the red and brown boxes from the bank with the holes in them to see if you are getting 50 rolls. The company is called String and Sons. They just roll up and distribute coins around the country like Brinks!

Just did another String box. "7" wheats all 40's and 50's. Only 3 copper canadians. Good copper, though. I bet it's over 30%. And, after going through all of better, half-way decent cents, I came up with only 1 winner. Another 2000 WAM. #7 WAM in a little over 2 months! 4-1998 and 3-2000! I hit the dump bank earlier today and the last two string boxes produced just a hair under my 28% average. On another note of tonight's box. It contained 132 1982's. That's about twice the amount I've been getting per box. |

I went through a brinks box the last two days and found an average of wheats and "s" cents. I find myself getting excited about anything unusual like counterstamps, foreign coins, or tokens. Last night I found all three. A Santa counterstamp (my first), Bermuda starfish, and a token from the Butts Mill Farm? Also something to lift anybody's spirit a Lincoln Cent with a "God loves you" sticker. |

Might be a stupid question, but what is a string box? N.F. String and Sons manufactures and sells coin wrapping and processing supplies to banks, coin processors and other financial institutions. Not all boxes have the inspection holes. They do not process or count coins. CWI (Coin Wrap Inc.) is one of their biggest customers. They do the coin processing. |
