After getting two straight boxes with 95% of the coins being 2011D I figured I'd try Wells Fargo one more time. Much to my surprise the only box they had came in the form of a large metallic faded-pink penny roll carrier.
Two shotgun rolls of 1968-S in their original wrapper. I'm tempted to open them. Also one other roll had all 1970 - 1979 cents. Just from quick glances at the ends of each roll this is going to be fun.
Another roll had 6 wheats, all in bad shape. I'll post totals later.

Ran through another String box...some of the worse looking cents I've ever went through. I thought about just taking the whole box to the dump bank. My guess is that 50% to 60% of these pennies came out of a wishing well or something to that effect. I did get 14 wheats with the 2 best being a halfway decent 1914 and a 1935D. The other 12 were 40's and 50's commons. I got 5 canadian coppers, too. The copper percentage, if I'm lucky, will be maybe 20%. This box just had "UGLY" written all over it. No errors or varieties in the small portion of decent cents from this box. In other words, this was a fast search.

Is it just me, or are there way more 1982's than any other date?...and why?

string and sons box from Ireland Bank in Pocatello, ID. 3 wheats, 5 canadians all commons. writing this from a hotel in nevada, we are on vacation!

Wheaties..17 with 1939 the oldest
"S".......7
Canadian..5 with 72 as the oldest

I know. we live in Bozeman, MT, we drove to pocatello, got a box of pennies, and continued through nevada and are now in san jose, CA. I got a brinks box from my grandpa and am going through it right now. I also got some CWRs, which yielded a BU 1962 D. |

Ok...explain what qualifies as a BU. I get a few really nice "reds" in every box, but of course, they are circulated and have scratches and stuff. So what make them BU and why are they premiums when sold. I guess that I am an old baseball card guy who watched beautiful cards get graded as 7 or 8's because of off center or very minor defect. So why are coins different?

Wrapped up $150 I did over the weekend. A mix of CWI and Brinks boxes, and CWR. The wheat count is getting back to "normal", but the quality has slipped a bit. Did find this '29   and this GV Canadian   Both of them have issues, but I only paid 1ยข each for them. |
