I did $5 of CWR today. The copper was low and a bit disappointing till I found this. It looks like a part of the reverse is on front and it is capped, but it is hard to tell from the picture. Front  Reverse  Thanks for looking. I am curious on what you think. If it was damaged after the fact or a mint error. |

If real its a nice error , die clash I guess ! maybe just a hummer job but the pros ll tell as soon as they see .

Ok thanks. I was thinking that it might have just been a hammer and tried to do one myself. I could not get the image to transfer, but I did not try to hard. I don't like damaging coins, but my curiosity beat my morals out for a few blows.

Im not saying is fake ! The name of this error is BROCKAGE , I hope yours is real !
I found couple hammer ones but never a real one !

It would be hard to do and have the image appropriately transfer, WITHOUT damaging the obverse. You would have to use a product such as JB Weld to make a mold to completely support the obverse, then hit it with around 50 tons...unless you are good with a big sledge, the average person won't be able to make a good fake one.

Ok, thanks for the information. I was thinking it was home made after looking at it more and thinking about how the monument was at the wrong angle if real. Oh well you can always ask and hope.

I don't dare set up in our bed, I use the same Brinks boxes you do and they get dirty, my fingers, desk, even my eyes get dirt in them. My wife wouldn't appreciate me using our bed for a dirty job, even though I am the sheet-washer. As it is, she lets me know that she doesn't appreciate the pretzel salt in bed.
My station looks similar to yours with the food storage containers, (I also use tuna fish cans) but I need a magnifying glass (besides my glasses) and a bright light. Guess you guys are younger then I am

Had some really nice finds and good copper numbers today, I ended up with a total of 5 wheaties, 1 70s that looks like proof to me and to the eye along wit a few others that look proof or are really nice strikes that have lasted the test of time. Ill post pictures tomorrow if I can

jimtaxguy: yeah she used to roll search on the bed but I wouldn't let her because it's so dirty. so now she sets up a little station so the coins don't touch our sheets.
and yeah we can search in dim light. my wife is 23 and I'm 22, so we have pretty young and good eyes.
