It was not a roll find, but I was in Subway today and I saw the reverse of a wheatie staring back up at me from the tip jar. When I got my change, I discreetly placed my coins inside and as I drew my hand out I took it. No one noticed (for if they had I would have gotten some strange looks!), and it turns out that it was a 1945 D. Nothing special, but cool nonetheless!

I too have found a regular 1909. But really, a ton of people have found a vdb on here this last year.

I bought my very first box of pennies to look for wheats. Let's just say my first box was forgetable.
1941P
1947P
1952D
1955D
1956P
1957D
Is that normal for you guys? These were from a Brinks box, by the way.

I, too, searched my first ever penny box today!  I found: Canadian: 4 Wheats: 31 (oldest was 1936) Copper: 661 (26.4%) The crown jewel of this box is a 1960 P small date that grades between MS-63 and MS-64! I thought it was a 2011 when I first saw it. It is that bright and shiny. All-in-all, I am happy.  Edited by ancientcoinguy

All-in-all, I am happy. 31 wheats in a box is EXCEPTIONAL! Don't expect that everytime, I average about 4-5 per box. Let's see pictures of your 1960 SD. Those are EXTREMELY RARE to find. I am almost positive that it is a small date, but I may be mistaken. I am not very familiar with LMC's so I could be wrong (I hope not!). Is it me or is there doubling on the obverse in the date, the motto above Lincoln, and on every letter on the reverse? Is that Machine Doubling?   EDIT: The color portrayed on the reverse picture closely resembles the color the coin has in hand. The obverse picture is darker than what it really is. The hits on the reverse around E Pluribus Unum are unfortunate, but should not bring the grade down too much. Edited by ancientcoinguy

Aww shucks.  These are the best pictures I can get and still be able to upload onto CCF. Even though it is not a SD, it is still a nice coin. |

Found my lowest mint LWC so far 1924 S, this was in the second to last roll in my first box this week (i get 2 boxes every thursday). Has some wear but not one nick or ding that I can see. I'm thinking VF? Somthing I dont understand is that its one of the lowest minted but really not worth that much. compared to lets say a 1909 vdb which more then twice was made.   |
