Found a minor 1972 DDO tonight!I think it is Die#6 because the spread is not as pronounced as with die# 3 or 8.

Is it normal to get 99% 2011 D's or is there something wrong with my rolls?

I don't usually hunt, but was at the bank earlier and said what the hell, picked up a box of pennies.

Literally 99 out of 100 pennies in the rolls are 2011 D. Once in a while I'll find out the occasional 2010 or 2000 or what have you.

The rolls all have Loomis on the side and were from Chase.

Is this typical?

It sounds like you just had some bad luck, which sucks extra since its your first box. Loomis must of just got a delivery of coin from the mint and you got a bunch of them. I will get new boxes every once and awhile. You can tell by all the shiny cents on the ends, or by the weight. I have a scale for weighing boxes. An all zinc box weighs 14# 1 ounce. A 25% copper box weighs 14# 15 ounces.

Thanks for this forum. It actually talks about coins and dates of coins. Seems like all the other forums (Fora) talk about silver and metal hunting. If the average is only one coin from a box I think you can walk the highway and pick up aluminum cans and make more money dealing in metals. Enough of a rant. I got my first 2012 cents this week. Came in a Guarda box from my local bank.

Search them for ultra high-grade gems. It's also a good chance to make a nice, high-grade BU roll.

If the 2011 cents I am pulling from change are any indication, a high-grade BU roll will hold an increasing premium.

Plus you have a better chance at keeping some nice strikes. A new bank roll might be 100% mush. I've pulled from mixed rolls what would easily shame the best from a pure brick.

Found this in a CWR from a local bank yesterday. Ties for the oldest coin I've found in a roll (another 1892 Indian a few years ago)
