My girlfriend asked me today, when I told her I ordered a 2013P and D cent set on ebay for $1.50, "Why would you spend $1.50 for .02?" Annoyed by the ridiculous question, I shot back, "So I wouldn't have to spend it on you." I think she's upset with me now.

Skyshark, wait til you have to explain spending $140.00 on one. My wife gave in and now I have a buddy to go to coin shows with and even enjoys digging through change. Should of heard her tonight when she found a 2009!

After you asked what the back looks like, I dug it out and looked close. There was something on the back like gum so I soaked it in hot water then could tell there is flattening of the " United States o" and it's NOT a WAM

Went to my Wells Fargo bank today to order a few boxes of pennies. They say I can only get 2 boxes a week. Is that normal for the rest of you?

they make up rules as they go, my bank has like 5 locations within 30 miles of me. I used to get boxes from the same bank but all of a sudden they wont give me a box because they said it costs money to order them, but all the other ones dont care and will give them to me. so each bank can pretty much decide what they want to do....

Well my girlfriend called me today so I guess I'm not on the do-not-call list yet. She went with me to Vegas last year and I went to a coin show there. When I pulled out $200.00 to buy a 1914-D, she walked out. She said she couldn't believe I would "waste" my money like that. At least now she understands more about coin collecting and value. I had to relate it to one of her favorite hobbies: antique collecting. Now she gets it. She even checks her change now. :)

What one of my banks told me, they have so much room on the trucks, say room for 20 boxes if there is a biz that needs money, or they have a lot of ppl ordering they may only be able to order so much before there is a over charge. Take what you can get then bump it up. I get 20+ boxes a week from wells fargo split between 2 days. I have another bank that orders me over 50 boxes a week split between 2 days. Right now I go through about 30k a week, my dump bank loves me. Hahaha

DrDon, well yes and no, I am pulling copper and silver, but I do check "BU" coins or anything that catches my eye, just pulled a 1905 IHC that my copper sorter would have missed because I watch when I open, if I go to roll opener(which I have built) I will probably miss some of the stuff I cherry pick now. before when I was trying to check everything, before I started running the volume, every time I would find a good coin it was just wrecked so it really wasn't worth the time I spent looking for it. Right now I am focusing on getting the cleanest coins I can per year, when I fill a tube I will check them all for errors and decide what I will do with the rest from there. I still catch counter stamped coins and stuff.....

Now if I could come up with some OCR software I would take it to a whole new level, I will play with that this summer if I am not in school, I actually I hope I am in school which means it will be 2 years before I can work on that and the one OCR that I know of will have probably been put in production by then and a lot of this hobby will shrink up, but as long as people still have coins to dump I don't think it will ever go away completely.

Optical Character Recognition software, there is software that has been developed that can read the coin, date, mint mark, etc.
