Nice 1911. It is EF40
For 1955D, it is hard to judge on the small picture. I think it is from AU58 to MS63, depending on whether there is a slight wear on cheekbone.

Nice 1911.

Better than the one I found a few weeks back and a little nicer than my oldest wheat ro0l find 1910 a week before my 1911.

Did my first ever box of pennies today.

1941-P
1941-S
1942-P
1950-S
1951-D
1953-D x2
1957-D

1968-P BU that's going into my book to replace the other 1968.

1956 Canadian and several newer ones.

Several 2009's and other misc. finds that help improve my book. Looks like I'll be going back later in the week and getting more because that was a lot of fun!

Gruver: Do you search for varieties or just by date?

DrDon: If I see something that jumps out at me then I'll pick it out, but I mainly look for dates, improvements and hole fillers for my books, or an all around attractive coin from an earlier date (ie. 60s and 70s). I haven't kept all copper pennies yet. I have two more boxes that will be ready for me on Thursday. I'm already addicted. With that said, should I be paying more attention to varieties in the future?

If you have a keen eye you should be able to pick up the better doubled dies using mild magnification
(they will "jump out" at you ). The ones you need to really pay attention to are the '98,'99,2000 WAMs,the '92 CAM and the '88 with the 006 reverse(1989 design).Check hereto learn more. http://doubleddie.com/58348.html
