Cash register find I guess. 2 morgans and 2 peace someone used to pay for a pack of cigarettes about 10 years ago. I told them the register could take them for face value only (not a lie). Then I put a $5 bill from my pocket into the register and took them out and grabbed a sodt drink to make the difference. The lady was not unaware what they were worth, she just needing a pack of smokes. She also later came in with rolls of silver roosies to buy junk food and stuff for her grandkids. Most of my silver came from that one lady, and I rescued it all from being abused in registers and coin counters and the like. When I sold a few 1964 rolls of the roosies I did give her her next pack of smokes and kids snacks on me. She then gave me my 2nd ever steel wheat. I guess her grandkids were more important to her than coins she had sitting around from her childhood.

So has anyone else noticed these new Loomis boxes of cents yet? The box of Loomis halves I got today was the same as usual, so maybe they are just sitting around and don't have reason to change yet, but why change boxes and rolls on cents?

I plan to post here in an attempt to be more active, that and I got really excited about this (partial) box at the second roll.

36 rolls searched, the other 14 of this box were used in the cash registers at work and I'm counting those towards circulation finds as they were going into circulation when I got them.

My FIRST circulation/CRH IHC, a harshly cleaned and polished 1906.
8 wheats; 1927, 1940, 1945-D, 2x 1946, 1949-D, 1950 and 1957-D.
One 1971-S LMC.
One counter-stamped LMC, 1986 with the digits 1 and 6 punched into the fields.
And 2 old Canadian pennies, 1961 and 1974.

Another box, 50 rolls done.

Finds:
Wheats x14: 1929-D, 1930, 1936, 1940, 1944, 1946, 1950, 2x 1950-D, 1952-D, 1955, 3x 1957-D.
S-mint cents x3: 1969-S, 2x 1974-S.
A counter-stamped cent, seems like someone had a bit of boredom.
A single canadian cent, 1969.
And oddly, a 1969 Netherlands 25 cent coin.

The stamped cent, never seen one that imprints the letters clear onto the other side.

And the 1955 wheat has a decent chip on the reverse.

dozen various wheats 40s~50s (couple S)
couple S (60s~70s)
couple Canadian

1 wheat required cleaning to read and even tell it was a wheat and after a soak in straight vinegar I noticed it was a 192_ S wheat. requires more soaking so put it in some lime juice to try to tell the last part of the date. it has not had a good journey in its nearly 100 year life with all the green and grime that was on it.

EDIT: turns out to be a 1921 S (what is left of it)

Busted a box last night, first roll pulled a 1901 Indian Head! First IHC in probably the last 20 boxes or so. Only 15-20 rolls into the box so hoping for some more nice stuff to roll out!

Ran through another box tonight, had a couple nice surprises.

10 Wheats: 19, 46-D, 46-S, 52-D, 53-D, 56-D, 57-D, 58-D and a pair of very lovely wheats dated 1957 and 1957-D.
S-mind LMCs: 1970-S, 1971-S.
A single King George V Canadian cent, 1933. The third I've found in the last year.
6 other Canadian pennies: 55, 64, 74, 89, 99 and 2006.

Is it just me or is the design of the wheat and the older Geroge a case of "less is more" and jsut makes them more attractive than newer coins where things seem cramped?
