Another box of pennies down. I swear we had 7 or 8 1959's, which bummed us out from a Wheat penny perspective. Not great as far as results:

-10 2009 Lincoln bicentennials
-8 'S' mint marks (4x 69, 2x 70, 2x 74)
-12 Canadians (1951 King George, 54, 65,72, 74, 76, 82, 91, 96, 99, 06, 2011)

-5 Wheats (41, 45, 57D, 58, and 58D)

Approximately 20 rolls into my $25 box I found a 1909!!
I about peed my pants!

It's not great condition. The obverse especially but the reverse isn't too bad.

I'll post some pics when I get home.

Alexandra - the doubling you are seeing is machine damage to the devices. Wexler terms this as worthless doubling since it isn't a true doubled die. Instead, the tooling used to coin the cent wobbled slightly during the strike resulting in the devices being affected. The flat and shelflike look of the 'doubling' you see is the key characteristic.

For the date, the DDO is the one to look for perhaps. The date is affected. There may be a number of other DDs for the date, but the DDO/date is the one I look for. Also, there is a significant error for the date; die rotation. Be sure to check your coins for that condition. Good luck...and welcome to the mix here!!

Dad - you found a nice mix of Canadian cents there!! It may not have produced the LWCs as you hoped, but you did find a few fun ones there!

Lincoln - congrats on the 1909! No matter the condition, that will get a flip with the story attached. My first 1909 came on a beach hunt with a $40 metal detector. It's the coin I choose to use for my circulation find set.

LincolnCentMeHere - Nice on the 1909 find! I've found a 1910, but never an '09...

Hi all,
Did about $14 worth of penny rolls over the weekend. Only 2 wheats:
-1949 (hole filler)
-1956D

We did find a cool 1967 Canadian centennial penny. Interesting find just b/c it is different :)

If someone knew that the coin(s) that I was selling came from CRH do you think they'd offer me less for it?

So I finally found my very first IHC after searching around $480 in cents! I found this beauty in the very first roll I opened out of the box.

As best as I can make it out I think it is 1898. I'm pretty sure it is 18_8 at least. I'm not quite sure about the 9 though.
I'm very happy I finally found an IHC CRH!, even though it is in pretty bad shape :).

Nice find! I think it may be an 1888, but you're probably right about the 9.
